Investigation Into Death Of Teenage Soldier

Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old solider who died at his base in Northern Ireland.
 
Private Lenny Reid, from Stevenson Ayrshire, was serving with the Royal Scots Borderers at Palace Barracks in Holywood, County Down.
 
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that a soldier had died in Northern Ireland on Saturday: 
“We can confirm the death of a soldier in Northern Ireland. The cause of the death is still subject to a police investigation and so we cannot comment further.”
The teenager’s brother, Senna Reid posted a tribute on Facebook.
 
 
A friend and fellow soldier, Jackson Currie, posted a picture of a candle lit tribute outside his barracks dormitory.

In a statement the Police Service of Northern Ireland said:
“Police were called to a report of a sudden death in the Holywood area, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”
Palace Barracks has been the base for the Royal Scots Borderers since 2014.
 
It is the Regimental Headquarters of the Royal Irish Regiment and the home base of several squadrons of the 152 (North Irish) Regiment RLC.
