Long-Lost Nazi Train 'Full Of Gold' Discovered
Reports from Poland suggest two men have found a train rumoured to be full of gold, gems and guns that have been missing for decades, presumably from the Nazi-era during World War Two.
The train is reportedly languishing somewhere in Lower Silesia, south-west Poland.
The two men have contacted a law firm in the Polish region but are refusing to reveal the train's exact location until they have been given a guarantee from authorities of a 10% value of the train's contents.
In short, they want a 'finders fee'.
"Lawyers, the army, the police and the fire brigade are dealing with this," Marika Tokarska, an official at the Walbrzych district council, told Reuters.
"The area has never been excavated before and we don't know what we might find."
In the Second World War, an area close to Walbrzych housed an enormous subterranean complex with an extensive system of tunnels.
Complex Rzeczka inside Ostra Mountain, a nearly-complete subterranean tunnel network part of Project Reise.
This was known as Project Riese (German for 'giant'). Although the purpose of Riese has never been definitively explained, some believe it was a headquarters for Hitler. Others think it was a secret network of underground factories for the arms industry, which had been forced below the surface due to an increase in Allied aerial bombings. Some speculate the train may be connected to the development of tunnels such as these.
The reported discovery by the two men has led some to speculate that as well as gold, the train could also contain valuable raw materials or other stolen goods.
