Major Tim Peake Boards Space Station After Tense Docking
Former Army Air Corps pilot Major Tim Peake has spent his first full day on the International Space Station, the beginning of a six month mission.
The flight on the Soyuz rocket took six hours, but a technical hitch meant docking had to be completed manually, leaving the British astronaut and his American and Russian colleagues in their capsule for another couple of hours.
Major Peake spoke by video link to his family when he got there. He also tweeted...
Hi from #ISS! What an incredible ride to space yesterday-Soyuz felt so smooth & powerful. Yuri did outstanding job getting us safely docked.
