Man Guilty of Excrement Attack on Royal British Legion Club

A man has been sentenced to a 12-month probation order and placed on a curfew after being found guilty of an attack on a Royal British Legion club.

Charles McGeary hurled balloons filled with human faeces at the building in South Shields after earlier being barred from the premises.

Thrown against the club's shutters the contents of the balloons ruined carpets and curtains as well as contaminating stock. In all the attack caused £2000 of damage.

Speaking to the Shields Gazette Club Secretary Bob Wilson said

"It beggars belief that someone could act in such a disgusting manner against an honourable organisation such as ourselves which looks after ex-servicemen."

before adding "This is a place where former army and navy servicemen and women can come and chew the fat and then we have some bozo coming here and doing this."

The court also ordered 49-year-old Mr McGeary to pay the club £1000 in compensation.
