Military Rescue For Couple After SOS Spotted In Sand

A couple stranded on a deserted island have been rescued after their SOS message in the sand was spotted by a military helicopter.
The pair scratched large letters on the beach to indicate their presence on the Micronesian island.
Fortunately for them, the message came to the attention of a passing US Navy helicopter, who relayed their whereabouts to the US Coast Guard.
Linus and Sabina Jack, who are both in their 50s, left Weno Island in the western Pacific but failed to reach their destination.
Search parties had been looking for the Jacks for a week when their signal was spotted on the island of East Fayu.
They appear to have followed five of the key steps for staying alive when stranded: Making a sign, avoiding injury, finding fresh water, finding food, and building a shelter.
They'd likely make survival expert Bear Grylls proud..
