Operation Payback: RIFT Teams Up With The Soldiers' Charity

You might already know us. We're RIFT Tax Refunds, and we've clawed back more than £20 million in travel expenses tax refunds for Armed Forces personnel in just over 2 years. You fight for us, so we fight for you.
What you might not know is that we also sponsor The Soldiers' Charity. Each time MOD personnel claim a refund through us, we donate a portion of our fee to the charity. Your refund also helps others and so far, those donations add up to over £100,000.
Beyond tackling the taxman and making donations, we're also involved in a wide range of fundraising events for The Soldiers’ Charity. Right now, our biggest mission is sponsoring Captain Olly Clark from the Royal Engineers and his team mate Dan Parsons in the Talisker Challenge. The Team Atlantic Challenge two-man crew are rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic.
They're battling everything from sharks to sunstroke to raise money for The Soldiers' Charity and Prostate Cancer. An army life is already one of the toughest challenges you can tackle, and Olly's taking no prisoners on this mission. More people have climbed Everest than completed this gruelling race, but make no mistake: with the goal of raising £250,000 firmly in their sights, Olly and Dan are in this thing to win it.
You can get live updates on their progress on their website: www.atlantic-row.com
Here are a few words from Major-General (Ret’d) Martin Rutledge CB OBE, Chief Executive of The Soldiers’ Charity about our relationship:
“On behalf of the charity and those we help, we are delighted to have this exciting and meaningful partnership with RIFT Tax Refunds. RIFT’s generous support of our work is ensuring The Soldiers’ Charity can continue to give a hand up to our serving and retired soldiers and their families in the greatest need.”
The Soldiers' Charity was set up to give life-long support to serving and retired soldiers and their families. Last year alone, they spent almost £8 million to help over 5,000 people, and gave grants to 72 other charities to support their work.
With a number of ex-forces personnel on our staff, RIFT understands the challenge of building a life back on Civvy Street. Of course, things are far from easy while you're still in the service, too, but at least we can make sure that's nothing to do with being short of money you're owed
The £20 million we've reclaimed from HMRC is only a fraction of the unbelievable £180 million that goes unclaimed each year. Remember - you can claim for the last four years, so time's running out on claims for 2011-12.
Outgunned by HMRC? RIFT Refunds Has You Covered:
•Were you posted to different bases over the last four years? If you drove your own vehicle, there’s a good chance the taxman's holding your money hostage.
•Give us official permission and we'll take the fight right to HMRC's door.
•We'll need some basic intel from you, like where you've been stationed and when.
•We'll scout out any other expenses you could claim for, like Mess Dress.
•We'll clear your paperwork minefield. Claims can be processed by phone.
•There are no fees up front and nothing to pay if the taxman doesn't owe you anything. RIFT only takes its fee when your refund is paid.
RIFT is working closely with HMRC and the MOD to make life easier for both former and current armed forces personnel. Jan Post, our MD, says: "RIFT is honoured to put money back into the pockets of armed forces personnel every day. And our partnership with The Soldiers' Charity allows us to do even more. Unlike Olly and Dan from the Team Atlantic Challenge, you don't have to be rowing 3,000 miles from the Canary Islands to Antigua to benefit, either! If you had travelled that far, though, there would be a hefty tax refund in it for you!"
"We work with over 500 serving and ex-servicemen and women every week to claim their travel expenses refunds. We make it easy, which is important for busy serving personnel who value their time on leave and for service-leavers who have so much to consider at this time in their lives.”
You have to demand your money back though, the taxman won't just pay out. An average four-year claim's worth about £2,500 to army personnel, so it's painful watching so much cash going to waste. Remember, we're here to give you all the backup you need.
