Royal Marine WAGs & The Great Yomp

WATCH part one above...

As one of the world’s elite commando forces, the Royal Marines can respond quickly to events anywhere around the world and are constantly on call.

But some would argue that their wives and girlfriends have an even tougher job. Take a look above at part one of our exclusive documentary...

Award-winning documentary and filmmaker Chris Terrill has been given an exclusive insight into the lives of 12 intrepid "WAGs" of the Royal Marines for a Forces TV documentary.

Half-running and half-walking, the WAGS set out on a gruelling 104 miles non-stop hike across southern Britain.

It's what the Royal Marines call a "yomp", made famous during the Falklands War, and is not for the faint-hearted.

It's a physical and emotional challenge for the wives and girlfriends, to raise money for The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund.

The WAGs, yomping alongside hardened Royal Marines Commandos, faced an uphill task, often quite literally. Not all would finish.

What emerges, however, is a compelling story of personal and collective fortitude - not only in how they manage the tough physical demands of the yomp, but also the mental and emotional impact of being a military wife or girlfriend - especially when their partners are called away on dangerous deployments for months on end in a war zone.
