US Deploys B-52 Heavy Bombers To Britain
The US military is deploying three B-52 Stratofortress long-range bombers to Britain.

They're being sent from Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, to RAF Fairford to take part in a number of large NATO exercises in Europe.

The Commander of US Strategic Command, Admiral Cecil D. Haney, said:
"Ensuring we can operate from strategic forward locations like RAF Fairford is integral to our collective defence capabilities and a more timely and coordinated response during crises."
"Integrating strategic bombers with multi-national operations in a variety of scenarios enhances the readiness and capability of US and NATO military forces, which is vital to global security", he added

The bombers will take part in BALTOPS 16, which will draw together around 6,000 personnel, 45 warships, and 60 aircraft from 17 nations, as well as Saber Strike 16 and US Africa Command’s Just Hammer.

BALTOPS 16 begins on Friday, and will run for 16 days.
