US Marines Presumed Dead After Helicopter Crash

Seven U.S. Marines and four soldiers are presumed dead after a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crashed in Florida.

The aircraft was undertaking a night training mission from Destin when it disappeared.

It's understood that weather conditions were poor with visibility limited due to darkness and fog.

Debris and human remains have been found after a search and rescue operation was launched in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Speaking to the AP news agency on condition of anonymity a Pentagon official confirmed that they don't expect to find any survivors.

Other helicopters involved in the mission all landed safely.

An official from Eglin Air Force Base said the missing Marines were from a special ops regiment from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. The helicopters and aircrew belonged to a Army National Guard unit from Louisiana.
