US Offers £13m For Information On "Key IS Leaders"
The United States has offered rewards of up to $20 million (£13m) for information on what its Department of State says are four key leaders of Islamic State.
US Secretary of State John Kerry has authorised rewards of up to $7 million for information on ‘Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli; up to $5 million each for information on Tarkhan Tayumurazovich Batirashvili and Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, the group's official spokesman; and up to $3 million for information on Tariq al-Harzi, its chief of suicide bombers.
The move follows an announcement by IS in which it claimed it was behind an attack on a prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Texas which left two gunmen dead.
Anti-terror experts, however, have raised doubts about the claim, saying the group has a history of asserting involvement in attacks in which it had no operational role.
