VIDEO: Putting The UK's Newest F-35B To The Test
The F-35B is being put to the test by Royal Navy officers, pilots and avionic technicians as they evaluate the plane's capability at US Edward's Airforce Base in California.
Wing Commander James Beck RAF Commanding Officer 17 Squadron:
"We're conducting operational test and evaluation on the UK's newest combat air platform which is the F-35B Lightning II. It's a fifth generation capability which we've never had access to before.

"We're here to firstly prove it works, secondly improve it in areas we think might require improvement, and third inform the operator back in the UK such that when we come to the IOC in 2018 we know how to use it and how to fight it."
