World's Largest Navy Exercise Draws To Close

The world's largest navy training exercise draws to a close today.

RIMPAC, the Rim of the Pacific Exercise, involves 26 nations, 45 ships, five submarines, more than 200 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel.

It's held every two years during June and July around the Hawaiian Islands and Southern California, aimed at fostering international relationships to ensure the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.

Its training program includes amphibious operations, gunnery, missile, anti-submarine, and air defence exercises as well as counter-piracy, mine clearance operations, explosive ordnance disposal, and diving and salvage operations.
