
Army's Kirsty Allen wins silver at World Masters weightlifting championships in Las Vegas

The Army's Kirsty Allen can now call herself the second best in the world after picking up a silver medal at the 2025 World Masters weightlifting championships in Las Vegas.
The soldier finished second in the women's 35 69kg weight category, losing to the champion from the United States, Samantha Kuhles, by just 12 points.
On Instagram, Allen revealed that she had been aiming for a Top 10 spot - and was incredibly pleased to walk away with a silver medal.

Elsewhere, the Army's Alex Parkes picked up a bronze medal in the men's 35 71kg category and so did the RAF's Mike Cutler in the men's 35 94kg category.
The Army's Russ Turner, who is also a key member of the UKAF weightlifting coaching staff, pulled out a brilliant fourth place in the men's 50 88kg category, while his teammate Russ Davies finished seventh in the men's 35 71kg category.
The RAF's Lee Coonan also competed at the event, but failed to make a mark in his competition.
