British Army soldier Corporal Rhys Calland has won the Europe's Strongest Man competition.

He outperformed former world champion Stepan Bystrinec from the Czech Republic and Scot Andy Harkin to win the open title.

A consistent performance across all disciplines saw Cpl Calland, who won the UK Armed Forces strongest man title in April, take the title and qualify for a spot at the World Championships.

Joining him at the competition will be an Army teammate after Corporal Paige Attwell finished fourth in the female under-82 kg category.

Christelle Mounandjo from France won the category, but Attwell's impressive performance means she also qualifies for the World Championships.

Cpl Attwell was competing in a weight category higher than usual and delivered personal bests across the board.
