Army development cricketers beat Civil Service in rain-soaked clash

Watch: The Army Men's Development team win their final friendly of the season against the Civil Service.

The British Army development cricket team have beaten the Civil Service in their final 50-overs game of the season.

A brilliant Army batting performance, which was halted by rain, got the military team over the winning line.

The rain was expected and it meant the Civil Service elected to bat first.

With a mixture of youth and experience, the Army development team went on the attack with seven wickets, including three taken by George Hopkins.

The Civil Service would score 258 runs in their innings which is a target the Army hunted down under darkening clouds.

Hopkins scored 85 runs but Andy Wainscot was bowled out by Mike Adams for just six runs.

The rain eventually poured down and play was stopped after a score of 137/1 for the Army â€“ with a revised target of 98 sealing the win for the young forces players.
