British Army clinch 27-run victory over RAF to win Inter Services 50-overs title

The men's British Army cricket team have won the 2026 Inter Services 50-overs championships after beating the Royal Air Force by 27 runs in Portsmouth.

The Army scored 211 in their 50 overs and bowled out the RAF for 184 to secure the title during one of the warmest days on the south coast.

The RAF won the toss and elected to field first. Charles Bevan would go on to score the most runs out of all Army batsmen in the first innings, scoring 48 runs before being caught by Jack Fuller off the bowling of Tom Berzins.

Ross Dearden and Jack Benson were the only Army players who managed to clear the ropes to score six runs, with Dearden dispatching over the boundary twice.

In the second innings, the Army were on a roll after already dismissing three RAF batsmen, Adam Sutcliffe, Ross Diver and Oliver Rogoff, by the time they reached the fourth over.

Tom Shorthouse hit the boundary five times before he was caught and bowled by Jonathan Boynton after 33 runs.

Tom Berzins scored the most runs for the light blues, anchoring the RAF to 44 runs before they were eventually bowled out by the Army after 47.5 overs.

The Army claim the 50-overs title to go with the IST20 title they won at Lords earlier this year.

Earlier in the tournament, the Army successfully chased down the Royal Navy's total of 216 runs by scoring 220, winning by four wickets and 17 balls to spare.

In the second match, the RAF also beat the Navy by four wickets, scoring 231 runs to pass the Navy's total of 227 with 21 balls to spare.
