The men’s RAF cricket team have won their opening fixture of the 2024 season at home to Oxford University.

Tom Shorthouse was the star of the show as his five wickets and unbeaten 89 runs off 57 balls led the Air Force to an eight-wicket win.

Oxford, who won the toss and chose to bat, were all out for 139 with Shorthouse, Albert Burgess (3) and J Gill all getting wickets.

In the RAF's innings, the partnership between Shorthouse and RAF captain Adam Fisher guided them to a speedy chase and triumph.

Shorthouse's total included 14 boundaries (nine fours and three sixes) while Fisher scored 30 runs before being dismissed by Will Marriage.
