UKAF Women preparing to make Lord's history

The UK Armed Forces women's cricket team have been training ahead of their debut at Lord's Cricket Ground on Thursday.

Their match against the MCC comes in between two Inter Services matches and will be shown LIVE on the Forces News YouTube channel.

It's a history-making moment as it will mark the first time a military women's team has played at the home of English cricket.

"It means everything," said Royal Navy player Lieutenant Louise Worsfold.

"It means recognition. It means understanding. It means acceptance.

"Sport is for all and quite frankly, why shouldn't women play at the home of cricket?"

UKAF team manager Lieutenant Colonel Ros Brown said: "I think there is a buzz about women's cricket and women's sport as a whole actually.

"It's really great to see especially younger girls wanting to play sport and then the fact that we're playing at Lord's, especially in the Armed Forces, is something that you can aspire to.

"If you've seen it, you can say that it is possible."
