European Gold For Royal Air Force Triathlete

August saw the Great Britain triathlon team enjoy unparalleled success at the European championships in Glasgow - bringing home 74 medals, 26 of them gold.

Alongside the elite competition, the age group events were taking place where an RAF athlete came first in the sprint distance triathlon.

Flying Officer Hannah Dodwell joined the Royal Air Force with a history of swimming and quickly started competing with her RAF colleagues in the pool.

However, a chance meeting with an RAF triathlete persuaded her to try her hand at the multi-discipline sport - that chance meeting culminated with a gold for team GB.

Winning gold in the 20 to 24 age group category, Hannah now has her eyes set on competing in elite races to maintain her new position with the national squad.

Supported by the RAF Central Fund as well as both RAF Swimming and RAF Triathlon - the next focus is the age group championships in Ibiza in October.

Being a natural swimmer I'm closest to their times on that, biking - I need to work on that a little bit, running - I'm aiming to improve on that I'd like to get down to an 18 minute 5km.
