EXCLUSIVE: Royal Navy Olympic Hero 'Wants To Continue Rowing'

Three-time Olympic gold medallist Lieutenant Pete Reed has told Forces Network he wants to keep rowing and is looking to compete at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

Speaking at Friday's Royal Navy Sports Awards, the sailor talked about how much he loves the sport but also, crucially, about how much support he has always received from the Senior Service.

Lieutenant Reed won gold in the men's coxless four at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics in Beijing and London respectively, and then added to those medals with gold in the men's eight in Rio this summer.

Since the Games three months ago, he has been contemplating whether to return to the Navy or continue in the boat and it seems he may now have made a decision.

If he does compete in Tokyo, and 2020 is a long way off, Pete Reed will join the likes of Sir Matthew Pinsent, who rowed and won gold at four consecutive Olympic Games.
