Army U23's Owen James scores penalty to secure win over Aldershot Town
The Army Under 23's got their season off to a strong start after edging out National League side Aldershot Town Under 21's at the Military Stadium.
After Blackpool and Macclesfield Town's Femi Takyi was felled in Aldershot's penalty area, Owen James took the penalty and slotted home the solitary goal before half time.
An Aldershot Town equaliser never materialised as the Army U23s took the 1-0 win on their home turf as they look ahead to building up for the Under 23's Inter Services in Fbruary.
Reacting to the win, Assistant Coach Staff Sergeant Carl Lawrence said: "We'll keep the momentum going, we've got players on the interim or players who couldn't make this camp that we've played previously.
"But with a lot more experience, they will come in, strengthen the side again by tenfold and hopefully that will take us into the Inter Services with the strongest team we can possibly put together."
