Preview: The Navy and the Army set to play in Under-23s Inter Services decider
The Royal Navy will host the Army in Portsmouth in an Inter Services title decider on Wednesday, where the champions of the 2023 Under-23s Inter Services will be crowned.
The Army U23s are coming into the third and final fixture of the tournament on a high note after they defeated the RAF U23s 3-0 at home in Aldershot last week, which consequently bumped the light blues out of contention for the Inter Services title.
The Navy U23s, who are the reigning Inter Services champions, will face the Army in the absence of their team captain Jack Wright, who will be suspended from this week's game after he received a red card in the Navy's clash with the RAF two weeks ago.
The Navy's 0-0 draw with the RAF in the first game of the Inter Services means they have to win against the Army to take the Inter Services title.
The Army, thanks to their win against the RAF last week, have more of a cushion coming in to Wednesday's clash as they only need to draw against the Navy to win the Inter Services title.
This clash comes a year after the Inter Services ended in controversy, as the Army were deducted points for fielding an ineligible player at last year's Inter Services clash against the Navy.
As a consequence, the Army missed out on winning the Inter Services title which, in the end, was won by the Navy.
The Navy vs Army Inter Services decider, which will take place at HMS Temeraire's Victory Stadium in Portsmouth, will be shown LIVE on the Forces News YouTube channel and on BFBS TV for service personnel. Find out more about how you can watch here.
