Second Sea Lord Vice Admiral Sir Martin Connell appointed Patron of Royal Navy FA

Second Sea Lord Vice Admiral Sir Martin Connell has been appointed as the new Patron of the Royal Navy Football Association.
VAdm Connell succeeds Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who served as Patron throughout her reign.
His role as Patron will involve championing the growth and development of football across the Royal Navy, supporting sailors and marines at all levels of the game.

"Football plays a vital role in service life, bringing people together, strengthening teamwork, and supporting physical and mental wellbeing."
The Royal Navy FA says his appointment reflects both his distinguished service and his long-standing commitment to the Royal Navy community.
Executive Chair of the Royal Navy FA, Captain John Gordon RN, added: "We are honoured to welcome Vice Admiral Sir Martin Connell as our new Patron.
"His leadership and passion for Royal Navy sport will be invaluable as we continue to promote the positive impact of football within our service.
"We also remain deeply grateful for the support and legacy of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II."
