Army reservist Kerenza Bryson enjoys strong start to her Olympic campaign
Army reservist Second Lieutenant Kerenza Bryson has got her Olympic campaign off to a strong start in the fencing ranking round of the women's modern pentathlon event.
She is currently ranked fifth after the fencing ranking round and is sitting on 230 points after 21 victories and 14 losses.
Her teammate and defending Olympic gold medallist, Kate French, is currently ahead of 2Lt Bryson in third on 240 points.
Home favourite, France's Elodie Clouvel, currently tops the field on 260 points.
The fencing ranking round requires each competitor to contest one-minute bouts against 35 other competitors.
2Lt Bryson will now progress to the semi-finals which takes place on 10 August, where she'll bid to book her place to the final on 11 August and bid for an Olympic medal.
The semi-final will test 2Lt Bryson in bonus fencing rounds, riding show jumping, a 200-metre freestyle swim and then the laser run.
2Lt Bryson is the current European champion and the 2023 world championship bronze medallist and is among the favourites to win a medal for Team GB in Paris.
