Army rower Stephen Cox wraps up Olympic campaign in men's single sculls

British Army rower Corporal Stephen Cox has wrapped up his Olympic campaign with a fifth-place finish in Final E of the men's single sculls event in Paris.
The corporal, who competes for Zimbabwe, finished in 07:09.34 to take fifth place in his allocated final, which ranks him 29th overall in the men's single sculls event.
Cpl Cox fell out of medal contention when he placed fourth in his heat and fourth in his repechage last Saturday.
Paris 2024 marked Cpl Cox's first Olympic Games, fulfilling a childhood dream he had been chasing since he was 13.
He failed to make it to the Olympic Games in Tokyo due to the pandemic.
In a post on social media, the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) said that he rowed with "heart and determination".
They said: "Steve Cox has crossed the finish line at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games!
"Rowing with heart and determination, Steve secured an impressive 29th place overall in the men's single sculls event!
"We're incredibly proud of Steve's Olympic debut and his remarkable achievement!
"Thank you for cheering him on and supporting his journey!"
