The men in red looked down and out as the Air Force took the third set 25-16 but came storming back in the fourth to win it 25-14 and force a deciding set.
The Army looked threatening at the start of the fifth and the match was fiercely fought by both sides.
It was a tense finish but the RAF just edged it by 15-13 to claim the trophy.
The RAF have never been beaten at Inter Services level but were taken to the wire by the Army this year which promises another exciting battle in the Crown Services volleyball tournament.
The competition starts on 15 May and features the Royal Navy, RAF, Army, Police and Prison Service.
Meanwhile, the Army women have staked their claim for the Inter Services title after a straight sets win over the Air Force.
The RAF had previously beaten the Navy in straight sets which means the Army can be crowned champions in round three of the tournament.
The Army take on the Navy on 7 June.
