Army men's basketball ends Navy's winning streak with a stunning Inter Services win

Watch: The Army men defeat the Navy to win the Inter Services.

The Army men's basketball team have ended the Royal Navy's winning streak after winning the Inter Services with a 91-68 win.

The win comes after the Army also beat the RAF on the first day of the championship, beating the light blues 95-58 and after the Navy achieved the same feat, the game was a must win for both teams.

The Navy held the title since 2017 and despite the close contest, the Army proved to be too strong for the Navy to retain their title as the reds win their first title since 2016.

Despite what seemed like a nervy start for both sides, the Royal Navy began well and made it through the first quarter with a 13-17 lead over the Army.

It was however a tight contest between the two teams as neither showed any sign of conceding, and come half time the Army had clawed back to gain a two point lead over the Navy 37-35.

In the second half, some champagne basketball from the men in red put them firmly in the driving seat and with a few slam dunks for good measure, they began to extend their lead to 62-51 come the end of the third quarter.

The final quarter was a race to the end and the Army continued to build on their momentum against a Navy team who despite their best efforts, were beginning to concede.

A 91-68 win for the reds was a convincing victory, especially over a Navy side that were searching for their fifth consecutive Inter Services title.

In the U23 tournament, the RAF took the title with a 57-35 win over the Navy and a 54-51 victory over the Army.
