RAF swimmer eyes Commonwealth Games after achieving lifetime best at Aquatics GB Championships

Royal Air Force swimmer Corporal Kyle Booth has finished seventh overall in the men's 50m breaststroke at the Aquatics GB Championships at the London Aquatics Centre.
Competing against a stacked field including Olympic champion Adam Peaty, Cpl Booth achieved a lifetime best of 27.66 seconds in the heats to qualify to the final in fifth place.
He wasn't able to better his time in the final however, clocking a time of 28.00 seconds to finish seventh overall, with Peaty winning the gold on his return to competition since the Paris Olympics.
Earlier in the week, Cpl Booth also finished 15th overall in the men's 100m breaststroke.
He is aiming for a spot on the Welsh squad for this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
He took a break from swimming after competing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, but made his return to the pool last year, now competing on behalf of the RAF Swimming Association and had only been training for three weeks ahead of the Aquatics GB Championships.
Speaking to Swim Wales on his performance, Cpl Booth said: "Not too bad given the circumstances and how long I've been back in the pool.
"To get a lifetime best this morning and qualify [for the final] and be up for consideration for the Commonwealth Games is amazing.
"I wouldn't be able to be in this situation without the support of the RAF and the RAF Swimming Association, they've been a massive help in being able top enable me to be back in full-time training.
"I'm ecstatic today. I think this afternoon didn't go as well as I'd hoped, but this morning was a lifetime best so I can't complain."
