RAF women claim slam dunk fourth consecutive victory at Inter Services Basketball Championships
The Royal Air Force women's basketball team have made history by winning a fourth Inter Services title in a row.
The ladies in light blue put in a commanding display on the court and had built a healthy lead at half time.
The British Army rallied in the third quarter but could do little to what was already a sizeable deficit, to which the RAF would go on to win by 61-38.
The RAF's Steph Cornell was named "Most Valuable Player" thanks to her incredible ball skills around the court.
RAF team captain Sergeant Grace Turton said: "We've just built a really good team, we've done the work off the court, which I think really help,s and we've got to know each other really well.
"We had new players come in probably about three years ago, which helped because they're good players.
"We're more than a basketball team, we're a family and you can really feel that."
Elsewhere in the men's match, the Army raced to an early lead, which they managed to hold onto throughout the entire game.
The Royal Navy came very close on multiple occasions to the point where they were level on 18-18 in the second quarter.
But the defending champions were relentless on the court, and the warriors came away with a 72-62 to defend their title.
Player and coach Staff Sergeant Roshane Murray said: "Well, I try to remind my team that you don't win a basketball game in a first, second or third quarter, it's in the fourth quarter where we need to turn up.
"So, we just continued doing what we do well, which is pass the ball, transition and look for your teammates and get the easy shot.
"Basketball is a game of ups and downs. You will go up and you will be down at times, but when you're consistent, which we've tried to be the last three years, that's the result that you get in the end."
Earlier on in the U24s tournament, the Royal Navy were victorious, making it a three-way service split across the championships.
