Royal Artillery Gold Cup cancelled after heavy rain at Sandown

The 2026 Royal Artillery Gold Cup has been cancelled after a course inspection at Sandown following heavy rain.
A waterlogged track means the race is unable to take place.
It's the second military event cancelled at Sandown this year after the Grand Military Gold Cup also fell victim to the weather.

The cancellation grew more and more likely as the rain fell across the country in the last few weeks.
It's a bitter blow for military jockeys who have seen their season continuously interrupted due to the weather.
