Royal Navy host first ever CrossFit championships

WATCH: Action from the first ever Royal Navy Crossfit championships.

The Royal Navy have hosted their first ever CrossFit championships with 20 athletes gunning for glory at HMS Temeraire.

The athlete who walked away with the most points after eight events would be crowned 'Fittest in the Fleet' with Able Seaman Harry Thomas taking the men's title.

The women’s competition did have a clear front runner as HMS Drake based Catherine Forrest led the way from the start to win.

CrossFit was approved by the Royal Navy's Military Judgement Panel in 2021, and with the success of this year’s inaugural championships, there is growing hope for a tri-service event involving the British Army and the Royal Air Force in the near future.

The new sport takes a unique approach to fitness with gruelling workouts that pushes the human body to its absolute limits.
