Rugby League: Army Women On Verge Of Making History Again

The Army Women's rugby league team could make history again this weekend by winning the first ever Super League South title.

In 2019, the team were the first Forces side to win a domestic title when they were victorious in the Challenge Shield final.

That performance resulted in the team being invited to form the new Super League South competition.

The Army have had a fantastic run in the competition which was capped off by a 110-0 win in the semi-final.

Their opponents on Sunday are the Welsh side Cardiff Demons.

A key player in the Army's semi-final win was Lance Corporal Kaiya Glynn, who successfully kicked 17 penalties from 19 attempts.

"It definitely made an impact and gave me the confidence for myself," she said. "As a team, we went in to push and keep getting more.

"As the girls were performing for me, it gave me the opportunity to keep hitting them."

The Army are expecting a more difficult test against the Demons who have a number of Welsh internationals in their team.

"We've done lots of training and preparation against our opposition," said Army skipper Corporal Emily White.

"We've looked at their strengths and weakness and we've developed our training, sets and moves to try and overcome that.

"Also, to attack their weaknesses and I think we are in with a good chance," she added.
