Army men earn thumping win over Rams, as Army women prevail over Irish Defence Force

Army Rugby Union's men's and women's senior teams have enjoyed thumping victories in recent friendly matches, with their preparations for the 2026 Inter Service Championships now in full swing.

The senior men's side continue their winning year as they ran away 66-7 over the Rams Development XV in Aldershot.

In the first half, the Army were dominant from the outset as Sapper Todd Johnson scored twice, with Highlander Tomasi Vula and Staff Sergeant Drew Davison also scoring over the try line.

The men in red did concede once before half time however, as Rams captain Harry Judd catapulted the young team onto the scoreboard, bringing the scoreline to 26-7 at the halfway point.

The Army continued their dominating form in the second half, with braces from SSgt Jamie Diamond and Craftsman Tagutu.

Hldr Tomasi Vula scored once again as he did in the first half, and Craftsman Ben Hurford-John also scoring for the Army.

With Lance Corporal Jack Johnson and Captain Jesse Ribeiro chipping over the conversions, the Army racked in a thumping 66-7 victory at full time.

Elsewhere, the senior women claimed a victory over the Irish Defence Force in a friendly fixture in Dublin.

The ladies in red dominated their Irish counterparts with a brace from Lieutenant Cross and another try by Craftsman Adiqalo to put them ahead by 19-0 after the first forty.

They continued their excellent run of form in the second half, scoring a further three tries with Private Scholes scoring twice and Trooper Amor also getting onto the scoreboard.

The Army did however concede one try to the Irish Defence Force in the second half, but their strong performance was rewarded with a 34-5 victory.
