RAF rugby star Flight Lieutenant Amy Cokayne was part of an England side that held on to victory in a tight match against France at the Rugby World Cup.

England women's side secured a 13-7 win in their second game of the women's World Cup in New Zealand.

The Harlequins hooker started the game in Whangerai, in which the tournament favourites were pushed to the wire by their northern hemisphere rivals.

Amy Cokayne scored twice for England in a dominant display against Fiji 84-19 in their opening game last week, which extended their record-winning run to 27 tests and means they have not lost since July 2019.

England's quarter-finals hopes are not yet secure. They will now face South Africa in their final pool game on 23 October.

Earlier, Scotland came very close to a historic win over Australia.

The ladies in blue, including RAF second row Sarah Bonar, were leading 12-0 at half-time but Australia turned things around after the break and eventually took the win 14-12.

Scotland will now have to beat New Zealand to keep their hopes of progression alive.

Wales women play the Black Ferns on Sunday.
