Ruthless British Army rugby team beat USA Military in international Remembrance clash

The British Army men's rugby union team have shown their ruthlessness in a 47-17 win over the USA Military team in Esher.

The match, which was broadcast live on the BFBS Forces News YouTube channel, was the Army's Remembrance event for 2024, and came just two days after the UK Armed Forces team were beaten by Germany.

However, a strong first-half showing put the Army in full control, with Mikey McDonald and Jack Johnson's clever kicking providing great assists for tries from Connor O'Reilly and Solodrau Radianirova.

Ash Horner and Onisivoro Nayagi also scored as the Army led 28-7 at the break, with KoiKoi Nelligan scoring for the American team.

The US-based side came out for the second half determined to close the gap and scored a converted try through Niko Spino, but the Army hit back again with Rita Ratakadreu to make it 33-12.

Adriu Muritoki's try and a penalty try added some space on the scoreboard as the Army kicked off their 2024/25 campaign with a 47-17 win.

The US Military will look to bounce back when they face the RAF in Aldershot next week.
