Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Lancaster bomber to return this display season

The iconic Lancaster bomber from the RAF's Battle of Britain Memorial Flight has been approved to fly at airshows this display season.
After extensive maintenance, the Avro Lancaster PA474, considered the jewel in the BBMF's crown, is now set to fly at the Blackpool and Compton Abbas airshows this weekend.
Public Display Authority was awarded by AOC No. 1 Group, Air Vice-Marshal Mark Flewin.
The BBMF shared images of its Lancaster flying ahead of returning to public display duties.
The bomber is one of the most famous aircraft of the Second World War.
The BBMF's Lancaster is just one of only two flying in the world.
BBMF Spitfire and Hurricane flying remains paused following the death of an RAF pilot in a Spitfire crash.
Squadron Leader Mark Long, who was a Typhoon pilot at RAF Coningsby and a member of the BBMF, died when the Spitfire he was flying crashed into a field in Lincolnshire on 25 May 2024.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
