Ares on the move: Ajax base variant hits the road with the Royal Armoured Corps
Two Ares vehicles have been pictured on the move while being operated by the Royal Armoured Corps.
In a video posted on X, the tracked vehicles are shown driving down a road with two more parked up in the background.
Ares is the common base for all six variants in the Ajax family of vehicles.
The post on the Royal Armoured Corps X pointed out the Ares is a "digitised, tracked, medium-weight armoured reconnaissance and troop carrying vehicle".
It also said it is "at the core of British Army's deployable Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) capability".
The Ares vehicles will be used by the British Army to deliver specialist troops across the battlefield, including anti-tank Javelin teams, snipers and support troops.
The Ajax family includes the Athena variant, used for command and control, Atlas and Apollo, used to tow and recover damaged vehicles, and Argus, a variant focused on engineering.
In March, Forces News reported the British Army could expect hundreds of Ajax armoured fighting vehicles to be ready for service before the end of the decade.
The vehicle has faced numerous issues ahead of entering service, including trials of the vehicle being suspended after a number of personnel suffered hearing damage.
