Patrol vessel HMS Spey takes on a range of training from gunnery to damage control

The crew of the Royal Navy patrol vessel HMS Spey has embarked on a FOST operational training and assurance period.

Fleet Operational Standards and Training (FOST) provides training for all surface ships, submarines, Royal Fleet Auxiliaries and Strike Groups of the Royal Navy by a dedicated team of experts.

HMS Spey's latest training involved a range of serials from gunnery to damage control, which they show off in footage posted on X.

HMS Spey's latest FOST training is a 10-day package to ensure the ship's operational capability whilst securing its readiness for tasking.

Together with land and air units and with increasing numbers of Nato and foreign participants conducting training under its guidance, FOST has established and maintains a "worldwide reputation for excellence", says the Royal Navy.

In May, HMS Spey patrolled alongside the South Korean military as one of two British offshore patrol vessels deployed in the Indo-Pacific as part of the UK's permanent maritime presence in the region.

Those sea patrols aim to stop smugglers from helping North Korea develop nuclear weapons by enforcing international sanctions.
