MOD HQ lights up for Ukraine with message of solidarity on country's Independence Day

The Ministry of Defence's London headquarters has been illuminated in the colours of the Ukrainian flag to mark the country's Independence Day – and will be lit up again tonight.

Main Building in Whitehall, the strategic headquarters of the UK Armed Forces, was glowing blue and yellow, with the message 'Stand with Ukraine' displayed across its façade.

The Palace of Westminster was also illuminated in Ukraine's national colours as the country marks its Independence Day today – Monday, 24 August.

The show of solidarity comes as Ukraine continues to defend itself against Russia's full-scale invasion, with the UK maintaining its military support for Kyiv.

Both buildings will repeat the display tonight between 20:00 and midnight, highlighting Britain's continuing commitment to Ukraine and its role in strengthening European security.
