Nuclear US aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt arrives in South Korea for military drills
A nuclear-powered US aircraft carrier has arrived in South Korea to take part in a joint military exercise with the nation's armed forces and Japan.
Reportedly the Nimitz-class nuclear-powered carrier, USS Theodore Roosevelt arrived in the port city of Busan on 22 June.
The joint exercise, known as Freedom Eagle, will begin later this month between the three country's navies.
The exercise will reportedly cover maritime manoeuvres, anti-submarine warfare and air defence techniques.
The United States, South Korea and Japan all agreed to hold annual military training in response to growing concerns regarding China.
The event will also be conducted in response to threats from North Korea.
Currently, Russian president Vladimir Putin is visiting the country and has signed a pact with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
