The US Army Black Knights have beaten the US Navy Midshipmen 17-11 at their annual American football matchup.

For the first time in the rivalry's history, teams from the US Military Academy at West Point and the US Naval Academy met on the gridiron in New England at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The win is the Army’s second victory in a row against the Navy and their sixth in the last eight contests.

It was the 124th meeting of the nation’s oldest service academies and each year, the teams wear uniforms designed specifically to honor a unique aspect of their institutions' respective histories.

The Navy, in partnership with Under Armour, unveiled a uniform in tribute to the Silent Service, the US Submarine Force, its families and supporting personnel.

While the Black Knights teamed up with Nike, and debuted the "Dogface Soldiers" kit, created as a tribute to soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Marne Division's beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
