The finalists for the prestigious annual Women in Defence awards have been announced and it is a who's who of outstanding talented defence personnel.

The Women in Defence UK Awards were launched in 2016 to celebrate incredible work, provide inspiration and promote the value of women in the sector.

Since the launch, about 2,400 nominations have been made – that translates into more than 400 stand-out individuals and teams a year who have exceeded all expectations and inspired other women to succeed in defence.

The women are nominated by their peers and don't seek recognition for what they do.

However, their work often inspires, includes, unites and improves the morale of their colleagues – something crucial to ensure defence works at its best in whatever the circumstance.

There are 10 award categories and three finalists in each, drawn from across the three services and the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

The winners in each category will be announced at a special celebratory event at London's Guildhall on 24 November.

Angela Owen OBE, Founder of Women in Defence UK, said: "Our judges have a tough job as we receive hundreds of brilliant nominations every year.

"The 30 finalists we've announced today come from across the defence enterprise and represent the very best of the community.

"I can't wait until next month when we announce the winners and the 2022 Woman of the Year."
