Bound at sea: CSG25 deployment underlines strength of UK-Norway alliance

The Royal Norwegian Navy frigate HNoMS Roald Amundsen, accompanied by its tanker HNoMS Maud, was assigned to the group for the entire operation

Just in time for Christmas, the UK Carrier Strike Group 2025, led by HMS Prince of Wales, returned home after an eight-month deployment to the Indo-Pacific.

Having travelled more than 40,000 nautical miles, CSG25 took part in major multinational exercises, including Exercises Talisman Sabre and Neptune Strike, showcasing the UK's naval power and readiness for future Nato commitments.

While 12 nations were involved in Operation Highmast – the name given to the CSG25 deployment – contributing either for extended periods or during key phases, only one nation remained for the mission's full duration.

The Royal Norwegian Navy frigate HNoMS Roald Amundsen, along with its tanker, HNoMS Maud, were assigned to the group for the entire operation.

In our video above, BFBS Forces News takes an in-depth look at why and how the close partnership between the UK and Norway aims to bolster security amid increased Russian aggression in the North Atlantic.
