Army Garrison Gives Endangered Birds Vital Lifeline

Endangered wading birds in North Yorkshire are being thrown a vital lifeline by the Army.

A haven for species like curlew, oystercatcher and lapwing – all in acute national decline – is being created at Catterick Garrison, the Army’s biggest base.

It's around the size of a football pitch, with the diggers having now been brought in with the aim of trying to save animals in crisis.
