The Campaign to Stop Injured Veterans Paying for Care
The Royal British Legion is campaigning for a better deal for injured veterans who have to pay for their social care.
Currently, those who were wounded before 2005 can be charged for their care, while those injured after that date are exempt.
The campaign’s called 'Insult to Injury', and the Legion wants the government to end the discrepancy so that no veteran has to pay.
The Department of Health, meanwhile, gave Forces TV this statement in reaction to the RBL campaign.
"As part of the Armed Forces Covenant, this Government has committed to making sure veterans get special treatment, when appropriate, and are not disadvantaged by their service," it read.
"We have been working with the Royal British Legion on this to see how we can support all veterans as part of our wider transformation of the way we will all pay for care in this country.”
Forces TV's welfare reporter Victoria Smith reports.
