Culture Colonel returns: Dive into candid conversations on leadership and inclusion

The Culture Colonel returns for a second series CREDIT BFBS

Fans of BFBS Creative's interview podcast The Culture Colonel don't need to wait any longer as it's back for another series.

Series one has been nominated at the ARIAS for The Social Impact Award and shortlisted at the New York Festival Radio Awards, so if you've never heard of it before, perhaps now is the time to start listening.

The podcast is a space for candid conversations about Armed Forces culture, leadership and what happens when things go wrong.

In series two, podcast host retired British Army Colonel Lindsay MacDuff returns with more honest, powerful conversations about leadership, identity and the culture we create around us.

But this time, the podcast is going even deeper.

From stories of people who have had to hide who they really are, to those tackling suicide prevention head-on.

From the corridors of power to the heart of the battlefield, these conversations explore the resilience it takes to lead.

With new episodes being published weekly until the end of July, BFBS has you covered when it comes to questions such as what makes an inclusive leader and how great leadership can transform culture, inspire individuals and unlock the full potential of a team.

The Culture Colonel boldly tackles these vital questions within the unique and often challenging context of the British Armed Forces.

It also explores what it takes to build an outstanding organisation where everyone feels safe, valued and empowered to thrive.

Highlights this season include:

:: The most senior soldier in the British Army, Paul Carney, talking candidly about what makes the British Army a great organisation and how it must do better for its people.

:: An interview with Kerry-Ann Knight and Richard Stokes who both suffered years of racist (and in Kerry-Ann's case sexist) bullying while serving in the British Army.

:: A powerful interview with former soldier Baz Melia who literally pulls suicidal Army veterans back from the brink.

:: An episode released during Pride month to mark the 25th anniversary of the lifting of the ban which prevented LGBTQ+ people from serving in the Armed Forces.

:: A courageous female RAF officer explains the long journey to overcome the trauma from a sexually abusive childhood.

:: The Chief of Defence Intelligence shares his favourite quote when it comes to leading people.

Col Lindsay MacDuff has decades of leadership experience. Coupled with his compassionate curiosity, this creates a space for raw, honest conversations with remarkable guests who share their leadership journeys, hard-earned lessons and personal triumphs.

Feedback from listeners in both the military and civilian communities highlight how people are benefiting from these frank discussions which seek to challenge outdated mindsets, spotlight the importance of inclusive leadership and foster a sense of belonging across the military community and beyond.

Whether delving into taboo subjects or celebrating quiet acts of courage, The Culture Colonel is a platform for powerful stories that inspire meaningful change.

Episodes featuring traumatic content will come with a trigger warning.

Series two starts on 23rd April. Follow now, wherever you get your podcasts.
