Bands, Vets And A Chinook Help Hampshire Mark RAF 100
The Royal Air Force is celebrating #RAF100 and as part of the celebrations, serving personnel and veterans from across Basingstoke have taken part in a parade.
The central band of the Royal Air Force Regiment led the parade through the town where crowds lined the streets - eager to be part of the RAF’s centenary celebration.
The parade featured the standards of the three RAF Odiham squadrons, RAF Odiham Officers, as well as veterans and Air Training Cor cadets.
The procession then made its way through the town centre to the War Memorial Park, which is dedicated to those who lost their lives during World War One.
The centenary celebrations took on a more sombre tone my the memorial with a short service.
Air Marshal Sir Roger Austin delivered the dedication of the Royal Air Forces Association.
After a crowd-pleasing flypast by a Chinook helicopter from RAF Odiham, there were more celebrations to come.
Organisers of the event in Basingstoke are hopeful they can inspire future generations to go on and shape its second century.
