A beach in Barcelona has been evacuated following the discovery of an explosive device on Sunday.

Spanish police have released a video showing the bomb underwater.

The device is believed to date back to the Spanish Civil War, according to the Civil Guard.

A secure perimeter of 250 metres around the device has been established by the police, cordoning off the popular beach of Sant Sebastià.

It is believed explosive ordnance disposal experts will have the bomb securely deactivated on Monday.

The device was found 25 metres off the shore at a depth of three metres by an off-duty police diver who was swimming in the area.
