British troops awarded medals in Estonia as Operation Cabrit 18 nears its end

British troops have been awarded campaign medals in Estonia as Operation Cabrit 18 approaches the end of its six-month deployment.

The medals were presented to personnel at Tapa Camp, where British forces are based as part of the UK's contribution to Nato's Forward Land Forces.

The deployment has seen the battlegroup train alongside Estonian and other allied forces, with Exercise Spring Storm among its major training events.

More than 12,000 personnel from Estonia and allied nations took part in this year's Spring Storm, which rehearsed defensive operations and tested how different national forces could operate together.

Lieutenant Colonel Oli Beard, Battlegroup Commander for Cabrit 18, said: "It's been an excellent opportunity to work alongside our allies, to demonstrate that collective deterrence, that collective defence.

"But it's also been a great opportunity for us to do some hard, demanding field training and come back to the UK stronger than we arrived."

Operation Cabrit is the UK's contribution to Nato's Forward Land Forces in the Baltic region, with British personnel rotating through Estonia on a continuing basis.
