Captain Sir Tom Moore: Military Community And PM Send Messages Of Support

The Armed Forces community has joined the wave of support for Captain Sir Tom Moore, after the Second World War veteran and fundraiser tested positive for COVID-19.
Captain Sir Tom, 100, captured hearts around the world in 2020 by walking lengths of his garden in support of the NHS during the pandemic.
He raised more than £32m for the health service and was later knighted by the Queen for his fundraising efforts.
The British Army veteran has now spent the night in hospital after being admitted on Sunday.
His daughter, Hannah Ingram-Moore, said in a tweet that he needed additional help with his breathing during treatment for pneumonia and that he had tested positive for coronavirus.
Capt Sir Tom is not in intensive care and is receiving "remarkable" care, she added.
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) and others close to the Armed Forces have sent their fond wishes to the hero and his family.
The MOD wished Capt Sir Tom a "full and speedy recovery," while the Army service, which the veteran had served with during the Second World War, sent its "best wishes" on Twitter.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson joined the well-wishers, saying: "I spoke to the family last night, and all I can say is, Captain Tom Moore has been an inspiration to everybody in this country during this pandemic and I think our thoughts and our prayers are now with him and with his family."
Tobias Ellwood MP, Chair of the Defence Select Committee, wrote on Twitter that the nation is "rooting for" Capt Sir Tom, while Minister for Defence People and Veterans Johnny Mercer MP issued a similar message with a 'fingers crossed' emoji.
Forces charities also reached out following the news.
The Royal British Legion wrote: "All of us here at RBL send our best wishes and thoughts to Captain Sir Tom Moore and his family. Captain Moore is an inspiration to millions of people worldwide and we wish him a full and speedy recovery."
The Poppy Factory and The Veterans Charity also sent their regards to the Army veteran.
The Royal Star & Garter, which offers care to veterans and their partners living with dementia and disability, wrote: "All our staff, residents and their families are thinking of @captaintommoore and his family during this time. #captaintommoore, we hope you get well soon!"
